Assistant Professor Sira Nanthapisal, MD, PhD, Vice Dean for Administration and International Affairs, together with Assistant Professor Amonnat Thappia, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, medical students Apirat Sangpreeda and Kunanon Chutosri, participated in the 16th ASEAN Medical Deans’ Summit 2026, held during 18–20 June 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The summit was hosted by the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The summit served as an important regional platform to connect medical deans, faculty leaders, academic staff, and student representatives from across ASEAN. Representatives from more than 40 medical schools and institutions in Southeast Asia joined the meeting to exchange perspectives, strengthen academic partnerships, and promote international collaboration in medical education.
Key sessions focused on Strengthening International Collaboration in Medical Education for Global Integration and Faculty Development for Internationalization and Digital Transformation. The program also included action group discussions aimed at enhancing collaboration among medical schools in Southeast Asia and advancing medical education in response to global trends and digital transformation.
In addition, the student representatives from the Faculty of Medicine, Thammasat University participated in the ASEAN Medical Student Network Conference, where they exchanged learning experiences, discussed opportunities for student development, and explored future collaboration among medical student federations in the ASEAN region. The students also presented their research project entitled “From Sim-Case to SIM-IPE: Buildng a Simulation Community for Patient Safety,” under the supervision of Assistant Professor Inthanon Imsuwan, MD, Assistant Vice Dean for Academic Affairs.
This participation reflects the Faculty of Medicine, Thammasat University’s continued commitment to international engagement, globalized medical education, faculty development, and the empowerment of medical students as future leaders in academic and regional collaboration.
